Suppose your "base path" setting is
"C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Desktop\mirror".
It can happen that HTTrack 3.34-ALPHA-8 downloads 
to "C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Desktop"
instead. I have extra information for you, but I wonder
whether it has anything to do with the misbehaviour. I got
HTTrack 3.34-ALPHA-8 to read the rest of the settings 
from an *.opt file in
"C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Desktop\option"
