I've done some testing with Httrack 3.40 final and manage to find some things.

With this site, <http://www.jornaldiario.com/beta/index.php>, putting depth of
2, replace-external, get non-html files, etc.. and in the httrack cache file
the from doesn't get filled. AFAIK not all mirrors get empty from field in
cache.

Here's the command line that i used (in windows xp): 
httrack <http://www.jornaldiario.com/beta/index.php> --sockets=4
--max-rate=100000 --depth=2 --ext-depth=0 -%P -j --language 'pt, en, *'
--quiet --urlhack --replace-external --assume standard --check-type=2 --near
-*.exe -*.zip -*.doc -*.ps -*.ppt -*.mov -O test

Also, i'm glad to know that --near option works ^^. Keep up the good work.
