I don't quite understand what you mean by 
"Since you start your browser on the login page, you can't capture it."

I followed the instructions at
<http://httrack.kauler.com/help/CatchURL_tutorial>
and am now getting an error telling me that the first page(s) either could not
be found or a connection problem occurred

also I noticed that I do not get a link caught page when capturing a URL with
internet explorer instead I get a 
 Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage
