I assume that "ISO-8859-2" should fit your needs ; could 
you try to add this line on the top of the index.html  and 
see it it's working? (using notepad or any text editor)

(meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; 
charset=ISO-8859-2" /)

(NOTE: replace ( and ) by < and >)
