Just a quick note to say that you've helped a tiny site, that was thought lost
forever, come back to life.

I won't bore you with the details, but an elderly man (formerly from the UK)
set up and ran a very basic HTML site on Web 1,0 rules for many years to help
former pupils of an old boys grammar school keep in touch.

When he became too ill to continue the site fell dormant but one of his school
mates contacted me to ask if we could retrieve it.

I tracked the gentleman down but he was, by then, too ill to even communicate
let alone help. So I was able to grab the public facing data (enough to get
the new designers started) using HTtrack.

In less than an hour we had gigabytes of data, much of it images of a bygone
era dating to at least the 1920s!

Sans HTtrack I'd all have been left with a mammoth task of downloading and
saving every page, carefully while retaining the curious filing system he'd
developed.

In the end, I got the whole job lot - enough to just <file://index.html> and
pow! A local copy.

Incredible - and they've just been in touch to say thank you so I thought I'd
let you all know. Almost everyone is either deceased or at an advanced age -
80+ since the school has been closed now for many decades. But you've been an
essential part of preserving that history for generations to come, so thank
you from us all.
