or maybe some type of banner add, maybe even the page 
itself is refreshing every so often....

i'd try to determine which protocols this little bit of 
data is being sent over, and possibly see if you can match 
up the host that you're sending/receiving it to/from.

Ethereal or some similar application may prove extremely 
useful to you :-)
