Exact. There is no differences between html and php pages,
HTTP speaking. The only difference might be some
unsupported features, such as the update one, causing the
site to be re-downloaded each time you update it (I'm not
even sure if recent Apache+PHP installs can handle properly
Etag mechanism to support update)
