Well it was a really REALLY trivial mistake that I did...
after much troubling and much log-file-scanning I happened
to  notice that I was trying to download the site from this url:
<http://www.csszengarden/?cssfile=001/001.css&page=1>
instead of the simple <http://www.csszengarden/>
