Well, I support most expenses (hosting, hardware..), but what we (developpers
in general) need is a strong support to organizations such as FFII or FSF.
Without the FFII, for example, httrack would have been in a big mess, due to
patenting problems (any program, even trivial, potentially violates at least
one patent)
