| I hope I can explain this properly. I belong to a non profit group for county
history and we are changing servers. Our original server has WebBBS. I haven't
found another BBS that will convert our files, so I've been using WinHTTrack
to back them up, in case we lose the old server.
I point httrack at:
<http://www.usgennet.org/usa/wi/county/clark/webbbs/records/index.cgi>
It works wonderfully, and it preserves the link threading within the files,
however my administrator does not like them because the filenames do not match
the name of the original cgi-generated text files. WebBBS assigns each file a
unique name, actually a number. She is having me take each folder of 1000
files and simply rename them from *. to *.htm. This preserves virtually
nothing except the message itself, no threading.
WinHTTrack preserves all the threading, but assigns it's own unique name to
each file. Unfortunately this makes our current index useless! I would like to
have WinHTtrack use the names of the data files that the html are generated
from. I hope there is an easy answer that I just haven't found yet!
Thank you so much in advance,
