type sent by the site, not the extension of the file. For example:
path/getImage.asp?ID=1 could be a html page or an image.
In your case, there are no extensions at all. If the site is returning
text/html then the local file should be html.
Possibly the site has/had a bad configuration. Nothing you can do on your
side.

Mime types on 3.4x are broken.
