How does httrack know that. The examples you gave (save as complete) put the
html in the save directory and create one sub directory with everything else.

The paths on the local files must be different than original on the site.
There for filesize AND timestamps MUST be DIFFERENT.
I wasn't being sarcastic untill you want to argue what a program should be
able to do instead of WHAT IT DOES.
Stop arguing. IT CAN NOT DO WHAT YOU WANT.
Go and write your own program and you'll finally understand.
