Yeah, as great as HTT is, seems like implementation of a good way to interrupt
it and resume it later has either been too challenging or not important enough
to figure out how to do it right.
Recently I've been using a "cheat" that has worked every time, but maybe I've
just been lucky. Try this and report back here if it does or doesn't work for
you:
{assume WinHTT}
While the mirror is running:
INSTEAD OF CLICKING THE CANCEL BUTTON
click Mirror -> Modify Options
go to Limits tab
set "Max time overall" to something small
or something just over the amount of time the mirror has been running
click OK
Let WinHTTrack stop on its own, then Finish, etc.
I've always used "Update existing" rather than "Continue interrupted" after
that, but I don't have any opinion on whether "Continue..." would work or even
work better.
For whatever reason, convincing WinHTT to "give up" on its own (due to
exceeding max run time) seems to work better than manually "aborting" the
mirror.
