It totally depends on the site you are capturing.  Some frames-based sites
which I have captured have had one frame on www.foo.com and another on
www.bar.com which means I would have to add one of those in the filters, as
the starting domain is only scoping to one of those.

You may like to consider using "no external pages".  If HTTrack has not
grabbed a page due to scope, rules, or whatever, you will get a link to a
local page "external.html".  This means your local mirror won't try to go out
to the Web for anything.
