This is generally due to "evil" javascripting, or java 
applets. Complex javascipting, such as 
img.src=foo.bar+".gif", can not be analyzed by httrack - 
and will generate broken links.

This can be also images considered as "external" - in this 
case you won't have broken links, but images with absolute 
(http://) external urls.
