That link still has it wrong.
Apology or apologies is a noun. Apologize is a verb.
So "(I give you) my apology," makes sense: action (give) object (apology.) "My
apologize" is My (no object) action (apologize,) does not.
"I (would like to) apologize" also make sense, subject (I) action (apologize)
