Jonathan, I too would like to know which solution you propose.

I have the same problem in trying to mirror the Khan Academy (french version)
for a school in africa with no internet access. 

Khan Academy is free maths videos for primary and secondary schools for
education, it is in their charter that it is free and that it should be used
for africa, just they have all their videos hosted by youtube and accessed
through embedded links.

Flash videos are embedded like:
