There might be two reasons for this problem:

- you have to use filters (Options / Scan rules) to enlarge 
the scope of the mirror ; such as
+www.theextendedsite.com/* +*.jpg +*.gif +*.tga +*.tiff

- you need proper creditentials (authentication) ; in this 
case you have to crawl the "login process" too. If the 
login is done through a form-based authentication, see 
related threads in this forum (this isn't quite obvious to 
do)

You can also try to copy cookies for this site from 
you "temporary internet files" folder (Generally 
in "C:\Documents and Settings\<yourlogin>\Local 
Settings\Temporary Internet Files" and generally named like 
yourlogin@site)
