Subject: Downloaded and installed but how do I launch?

I followed the directions to download and install for Linux (i.e. ./configure
&& make && make install) but now how do I launch the GUI????? There are no
instructions for this. I am tempted to just use the apt-get approach but then
I would have two version(s) on the same machine (?). THanks!
