This is me again. 

Out of curiosity I downloaded old version of HT. 

I have tested the previous version for Windows: HTTrack3.33
And it looks the problem is gone!

I can post logs from both versions with the same settings if it is relevant.
Now, not-found images are not renamed to *html and not stored as junk.
