Gave up on macports, tried homebrew. Not sure if you should install things as
root or my non root user login. 

Seems like homebrw doesnt like root, but tries to do things that only root can
do (ie link from /usr/local/bin)

I brew installed, linked, uninstalled, installed, failed to link again, stood
on my head, waiting for the blood to rush down, and a revelation to occur


ended up just running httrack from /usr/local/Cellar/...../bin
and it seemed to work.
