I also have the same problem.

I have the recursions tweaked nicely so it gets just the 
main HTML pages, but unfortunately not their web pages.

If I increase the recursion by 1 on eithe rlocal or linked, 
the count jumps from 400 to over 4000 from spreading out 
too much.

I thought --near would download images for links but.. i 
guess not.
