Subject: Exiting & restarting a mirror from the same point

Can someone please clarify the best way to exit an incomplete mirror and
restarting it where it was left off later? There are three areas where this
is confusing for a new user ...

1. What does the "Cancel" button (during a mirror) do different from the "X"
button (top right corner of the window) in terms of restarting the mirror from
the same point?
2. What is the difference between pressing "Cancel" once or twice (immediately
cancel) in-terms of restarting the mirror from the same point?
3. What is the best way to restart a mirror (moving forward ... not updating
existing files) after Cancel, Cancel-twice and X-button?
I am attempting to download a large mirror with bandwidth restrictions and I
can not leave the mirror running or the application running (mirror Paused)
for the entire duration of the mirror. What is the best way to exit the
application and restart the mirror from the same point?
Thank you for your help in advance. I have tried using the forum but it is
difficult to follow when the conversations drift from the original question.

Best Regards.
