I don't know why you would be having the result you describe. My one theory
was that perhaps it occurs if using the "new window" command, instead of
clicking directly on the reply link. The direct click on the reply link in
this forum opens a new window anyway (in my browsers at least). The one theory
had merit for a moment for me when I did a view-source on each type of
action.

Direct-click-src-htm

New-window-command-src-htm
<input type="hidden" name="referer" value="">

However, from the looks of testing the new window command just now, I view no
difference in effect. My message is threaded under yours.
