After successfully mirroring several resources, I moved the projects' base
directory to another location on my disk. I think I moved HTTrack also, which
I thought was location-independent. After that, no mirroring job ever came
through: "the engine unexpectedly crashes" immediately after starting the
operation. I'm not sure if it even makes the first HTTP request. I searched
the forum as well as entered the registry and tried to figure something out
and fix it, but it all seemed fine.

On other computers I use the same version without problems. I believe the
problem was caused by moving files around.

I'd appreciate any clue to the mystery.
