Updates are fast because they do NOT download the files, they just ask the
server have they changed. Only changed files (dynamic html are always new) are
downloaded.
I mirror a site that is over 20GB/80K files. If it wasn't for the dynamic
html, the update would take less than an hour. Instead it takes about 8 hours.
But if it had to download the site, with my connection it would take 71 hours.
