I tried what you suggested but it did not work. Winhttrack downloaded only the
"example.rss"- non of the links from the rss feed.
The rss feed url looks like this: <http://example.com/rss/home.rss>
the links in the feed look like this: <http://example.com/xxx/xxx/xxx.html>
