This is precisely the problem. I have no problem with
someone selling my software or distributing it on CD (BTW-
I help Linux CD sellers to package httrack) and even
selling WinHTTrack.
The problem here is that :
- the httrack name was modified (the application name is
different, like "web copier")
- no reference to the GPL is made
- no reference to the original author is made
- false claims that the seller is the "Only authorized
reseller" and that there are only "Limited quantities"
Once bought, the user MAY get the original sourcecode ; but
I have a slight doubt on that (I did not want to pay to be
sure). But anyway this is simply a RIP OFF. Not because a
GPL application is sold, but because innocent users are
just being ripped off! It actually DOES makes me feel bad
thinking that people are just being abused like that. Not
to mention that for the cases reported (ebay),
the "sellers" were also selling pirated commercial
products, among with other fuzzy things.
But I really don't care if httrack is sold, when the GPL
license is fully respected.
