This is the "URL hack" routine (activated by default), 
which considers that www.example.com and example.com are 
IDENTICAL: this might explain the problem?
%u  url hacks: various hacks to limit duplicate URLs 
(strip //, www.foo.com==foo.com..) (--urlhack)
