| Why is it that people who use mirror software have no
respects for other people's property? Some of us spend
several hours each day working on our sites and pay for
them out of our own pockets. We have bandwidth limitations,
and when we go over the limit our site is blocked for
**everyone**.
In order to keep the site open for everyone we ask people
not to suck the whole thing at once, but use it as you need
it. However, there are many people who use programs like
HTTrack that don't care about the work and money that
individuals put into their web site and suck down the sites
anyway. So rather than spending our time adding content and
improvements we have to spend time dealing with our hoster
to reactivate the site, or add features that block people
from doing things they where asked not to.
Sucking a site against the owner's permission is worst than
spam . Spam is an annoyance, but in most cases spammers are
not doing something against the specific request of that
person. However, when I tell someone not to suck my site
and they do it anyway, that is a direct, intentional
violation of my property and my rights.
