Thanks very much for your quick response and your suggestions. I set up a url
where you can reproduce the problem: 

I can get the pdf if I provide the url
<http://sgs-muenster.net/test-httrack/Busfahrplan.pdf> to httrack, but the file
is not retrieved when I start with
<http://sgs-muenster.net/test-httrack/Busfahrplan.pdf/view> or somewhere above
in the hierarchy. Then, I get the error: "Unable to save file [..].pdf : Is a
directory"
