I don't really know what is going on, Tom, but it almost sounds like you have
two versions of the program somehow conflicting.  One thing you may like to
try is reinstalling the program.

- Download the 3.20RC1 installer again (if you don't still have it)
- *Uninstall* your current HTTrack version
- Try deleting the folder where it's installed (C:\program files\winhttrack)
- Reinstall
