Err.. there is no automated procedure ; the best thing may 
be to copy the previous directory to something 
like "daily10212002", and then rerun using "update an 
existing mirror" to get the fresh news.

This is weird.. might be a problem with the browser (which 
did not detect that the pages weren't online?!)
Did you tried with another one (switching IE <-> Mozilla or 
the countrary ?)
