| Browsers do not care about line length, UNIX, Mac, Unicode
or DOS conventions.
Firefox or Mozilla will even reformat the code if you want
to view the source.
When I send a page, I even mix the conventions (usually DOS
when the content is static, Unix when it is dynamic).
I don't care about having a Unix or Windows server and about
the OS announced in the User Agent.
If someone wants to edit the pages (mirrored or saved as) he
will need a good text editor.
I never had problems with Linux.
Context is a nice editor (freeware) with Windows. It will
modify the line ends and convert to any convention, you will
only have to untick wordwrap if you want to edit long lines.
