I used to get similar results when using httrack from work.  I found out that
the employer ran a proxy.  You might check your web browser connection
settings for a proxy which you would have to pass on to httrack.

I have both 3.41 and 3.33 on my machine.  Perhaps you tried to install 3.33
over 3.41?  I put them in different directories and they seem to work.  I
don't really use 3.41 - too many problems.
