I have pretty much proven to myself that it was the culprit for the memory
use. 
also at the bottom of this page,http://www.httrack.com/html/step9_opt2.html
there is a warning seems to the point 

Perhaps should be added to the Guide or "How not to use"?as it is vry relevant
not only to nonGUI users.

2) What would be the best way to go if I do run out of link number in a run.
Is there a way to cover the rest ?
