| Hi everyone!
I have been a long-time user of WinHtTrack as it is hands down the best
website copier program and I fully support its hosting financially yearly
since I cannot code. But (unfortunately), I still have some un-answered
questions about the program and some features. These are SIMPLE questions and
this thread might help some others.
I cannot find the answers to these questions on the Forums or the FAQs pages.
These are simple questions, but important and might make a big difference to
average/above-average WHTT users.
1) When updating a site, what does "Files Updates" and the ( __%) box REALLY
mean?
As an example, I have a site currently updating showing 29,000 (63%) files
updated, but that seems extremely high for a site I just downloaded, but had
some missing links (mainly images).
Is WinHtTrack re-downloading all these 29,000 files or just went through them?
Is the % the total # of files scanned or total % of files re-downloaded?
2) When creating Rules, does it make any difference to use <http://www>. or just
www. or just straight into web name??
For example:
OR
+ www.Website.com/Images
OR
+Website.com/Images
3) Again, in Rules, what is the difference between the following rules (if
any):
-google.com
-*www.google.com*
4) In the Rule: -http://www.google.com/* does the last " / " (slash) at
the end mean anything or make any difference?
Example:
-http://www.google.com/* OR -http://www.google.com*
5) The * is a "wildcard" for the Rules. But how different is the * in front or
a rule and in the end??
6) How does each one of the 2 Rules below differ from each other (if at all)?
Does the first * make any difference in the rule below?
7) When beginning a new project, on the "Web Addresses (URL)" does it make any
difference to list a website with HTTP:// or just straight www. ?
Example:
www.RpgFan.com OR <http://www.RpgFan.com>
Thank you for the info. I know these might seem stupid to many advanced level
programmers and coders, but I am just an average/above-average PC user. :)
This might help clarify some of these questions for average users. Thank you.
:)
Have an awesome weekend, all. :)
