Dear Bill

I read your post completely, and it reminded me of something

A few years ago the library in my town celebrated 150 years of being open, and
was making a big deal out of it. I of course had to complain about that, much
like I did in my previous post here. I marched down to the library and at the
board meeting I gave them my opinion. My library had destroyed or tossed in
the garbage every book or item they possessed before 1980. I don't know the
names of those books or subjects, I didn't have some business project I was
pushing. I was concerned they had not even saved even a few examples from the
past for people to look at now...not even one. some of the books were one of a
kind local authors. I understand its not possible to save it all, but try to
save a little at least.

I mourn the loss of information, It bothers me. and the Laissez-faire
attitude that surrounds it.

You are right Bill... The problem is with me. I stand up when others sit down,
I speak up when others are silent. I guess I need to learn to run with the
heard a little better.

Even though your post was not related to anything I asked and was a clear
message to others on here not to offer me or the rest of the internet any help
in this area. I still stand by my principles and believe that your post is
important and deserves to be archived for future generations to read.

Many people have posted on here asking the same question....nicely, asking
politely, asking on their knees....they got silence.

I want to remind you almost all forums are based on someone paying sever host
fees. So daily as we mess around here, forums are going dark and information
is being lost. At least if someone took the interest to upload forums to
Archive.org the information could be made safe from obliteration.

So Bill, can you "PRETTY PLEASE" explain it to me and the rest of the internet
why Httrack is having so much trouble archiving forums. So we can begin saving
these items and post them to Archive.org and make the internet a safer place
for information.

The forum format here is also part of the problem as you have to wade through
all the posts to find information the pertains to whatever you need. further
dissuading many people from bother to get this far.

Have a nice day.
