I already mentioned that there are people working on this. Plus httrack isn't
going to be your best tool for this. Also, my post wasn't to tell others not
to help you, but was to tell you not to demand information from others. Your
post comes across as lazy minded and that you don't really have any interest
in the process of doing this, you just want to be told what buttons to push to
get your end result.

I do understand your desire to archive. It can be very satisfying to know
something is protected and safe. But you mentioned Amazon.com as though you
were wanting to archive that. The simple fact that you think it is even
possible by yourself is a sign to me that you don't grasp the sheer size of
that kind of project. Then again, I don't share your belief that Amazon and
it's comment section are some kind of mass information source. Its a merchant
site with horrible reviews or prank reviews. Not worth the time in my opinion.
There are so many sites that really could use archiving. Smaller forums need
it. Most of those are fly-by-night operations that end up getting large and
then suddenly closing down forever.

Use google and search for Archive Team, and site archiving. You may be able to
dig into that to find information about what you can use to help you do what
you want. Archive Team archived a very large portion of Geocities before it
was shut down by Yahoo. I have the archives for that. It was I think 650GB
commpressed and over a TB uncompressed. But I have 24 TB of NAS storage in my
apartment on a 100Mbit fiber connection. (I live in Sweden...)

I apologize if my post comes off as rude, but you said that you stand up when
you see others not doing anything, but I stand up when I see someone demanding
others do the work for them without having looked themselves. I also stand up
when I see someone doing something without understanding the complexities of
something and yelling that others should help them with it. Other people ARE
archiving.

I think someone else suggested that you talk to forum operators about
obtaining databases minus the user data. That is probably the BEST way to
archive them.

Good luck and please use google and research archiving technologies.

Bill
